JERRY JOHNSON, PRESIDENT, TO RETIRE FROM WOODS EQUIPMENT
Jerry Johnson, President of Blount International’s Farm, Ranch, and Agriculture Division and Woods Equipment, has announced his retirement, effective December 31, 2020. Johnson will be succeeded by Todd H. Hall, who most recently has served as President of Blount’s Concrete Cutting & Finishing Division.
“I congratulate Jerry on his retirement,” said Paul Tonnesen, CEO of Blount International, “and thank him for his contribution to the company and the industry. Throughout his tenure, he has been instrumental in ensuring the safety of our employees, growing our business, and strengthening relationships with our channel partners. In addition, Jerry has served as a strong advocate for our industry through his leadership in the Association of Equipment Manufacturers.”
Johnson joined Woods Equipment Company in 1995. He held various positions of increasing responsibility through several ownership changes, helped execute an aggressive acquisition growth strategy through 2000, and was promoted to President in 2009. In this role, Johnson led the company through a highly successful organic growth strategy, expanded the brand into international markets, and was a key leader of the acquisition team when Woods was purchased by its current owner, Blount International. “It has been a privilege to work for the last 25 years in the business of manufacturing agricultural and construction equipment alongside so many people who are deeply devoted to this outstanding industry,” said Johnson. “I will cherish the relationships that so many have afforded me, whether as a customer, supplier, competitor, or fellow employee. I wish you happiness and success in work and life.”
Prior to joining Woods, Johnson worked for the General Electric Company for 10 years, spending eight years in the aircraft engine division and two years in the electric motors division. He held various positions of increasing responsibility in manufacturing engineering, materials, and operations management.
Johnson is a member of the Society of Manufacturing Engineers and has served on the Association of Equipment Manufacturers (AEM) Board of Directors, and as Chairman of the AG Sector Board. He is a Six Sigma Black Belt and was awarded a bachelor’s degree in Industrial Technology from Southern Illinois University.
