WOODS EQUIPMENT CELEBRATES 75th ANNIVERSARY
Woods Equipment, a brand of Blount International, is celebrating its 75th anniversary throughout 2021.
Woods’ long history of innovation began with Leonard W. Wood and his brothers, Mervel and Keith, in Oregon, Illinois, on the banks of the Rock River, a nostalgic location for the family. In a post-war era, ripe for entrepreneurism, the three of them worked together to build the first successful tractor-mounted rotary cutter, and eventually founded Woods Brothers Manufacturing Co., in 1946.
Since that time, Woods has grown to become an international manufacturer and distributor of premium agriculture machinery available throughout North America, Europe, Latin America and Australia. The company has pioneered innovation and secured over 65 patents. Today, Woods’ attachments and implements are used for mowing roadsides and parcels of land, maintaining pastures and waterways, shredding crops and countless other applications around the world.
Since introducing the Batwing over 50 years ago, Woods has continually made research- and customer-informed evolutions to the product, which maintains a reputation for being the toughest flexwing cutter in the field. The company has also innovated numerous features that make it easier for those stewarding the land to use and maintain the Batwing, as well as various other attachments and implements made by Woods.
“Across decades and generations, Woods has worked hard to build a reputation for innovative, high-quality equipment that our customers can count on to help them get the job done,” said Todd Hall, President of Blount International’s Farm, Ranch and Agriculture Division. “Not only is our 75th anniversary a moment to celebrate what we’ve accomplished during our history as a company, it’s a source of inspiration for our future. We look forward to driving innovation for years to come, and we plan on doing this by staying committed to quality and remaining focused on what matters most to our customers who work the land.”
